Harbor of Blight Gameplay Phases

Exploration Phase: Your objective will be listed here. In most scenarios you will be given the opportunity to explore your surroundings, resulting in various outcomes. Will you lay traps? Explore for rare flora to barter with? Look for unique items? Or go straight into battle?

Combat Phase: Once exploration ends, it's time to go to battle with an Elemental Beast. Will it be an Order Dragon? Fire Wolves? Water Phoenix? Chaos Elemental? Every main scenario includes a unique battle!

Social Phase: Once the hard-fought battle is over, you usually have time to rest, barter for new gear, and optionally speak with NPCs to maybe find out something hidden or new about the dangerous world of Blight.

Fast Setup & Takedown

Your time is precious, so spend it playing not setting up! Flip a few pages in the campaign and map books, grab your character matt and skill cards, and start exploring immediately in this scenario-driven adventure. Get right into the action with the first 3 scenarios that introduce you gradually to the gameplay.

An Accessible RPG Experience

Harbor of Blight is designed to be new-player friendly. We want to bring anyone who feels traditional tabletop RPGs are too overwhelming, a stream-lined adventure that is full of twists, turns, puzzles and customization all wrapped into an epic narrative full of colorful characters you'll want to interact with. If you've ever wanted to give a campaign-based game a try, Harbor of Blight is a great place to start.

Infuse Your Elemental Power

Elemental energy is abundant throughout the world of Blight. In this first core game you will be able to create your character with an Elemental Spirit of Fire, Water, Order or Chaos. Your element will affect your character in various ways through combat, exploration, and social interactions.

The Exotic World of Blight

A unique, science-fantasy setting with a splash of steampunk awaits you on this adventure. A vast array of art and lore will be available, if you want it. If you'd rather get right into the game with a quick-start character and just skim through what's needed, that's ok too!

An Ongoing Journey

An ongoing (MMO-like) adventure, where you continue to develop your character in this and future campaigns! Your unique character can stay with you throughout this campaign and all future campaigns and keep on growing. The New Game+ mode allows you to swap out specialty skills from previously mastered specialties to customize your character to your liking. Your character will be with you (if you want, or unless you die in hardcore mode!) through this game and all future core games and expansions!

Designed Solo-First!

Harbor of Blight is designed with solo-first in mind! You can also play 2-Player in the same campaign as your solo game. Don't have someone who can play consistently with you? That's fine too! Different friends & family can hop in and out of your game as they desire using their own character or a premade. Or make a wager and challenge them to a PvP fight in the Proving Grounds arena!

You get to choose a furry or feathered companion to help you out on your adventure. Choose your loyal companion and summon them to help explore and fight. But be careful, if they're attacked they risk dying, permanently.

Upgradeable Gear and Skills

After every scenario you will have the opportunity to upgrade or buy new gear with your Barter Points. As you level up, you'll have to decide which skills to enhance, and which to leave as-is.

Choose One Of 4 Unique Professions & 8 Specialties

Becoming a Warrior is no small feat on Blight. The training is intense and the life is even harder. Many different fighting styles have evolved throughout the years. However, Warriors generally excel in a balanced offence and defense to tackle the unpredictability of the dangerous beasts roaming throughout the world. Once the basic warrior skills are mastered, they usually specialize as either a Hunter or a Wild Striker.

Beasters are relatively rare on Blight, as most of them succumb to an untimely death pursuing their skills. They don’t believe other humans can teach them what they need to fight properly. Instead, they seek out some of the most dangerous beasts in Blight and attempt to learn their abilities by fighting them. There are two trains of thought between fellow Beasters, which has led to a branching out in their ways. One side, usually those from Obsidian, prefer to become Absorber Beasters, whereas their brethren from Opal prefer becoming Empathic Beasters.

Menders are one of the most sought-after professions on Blight. With all the dangerous creatures roaming the land, mending is in high demand. But don’t let a Mender’s ability to heal fool you. They are some of the most dangerous fighters in all of Obsidian. Once the basic Mender skills are mastered, they specialize as either a Mech Mender, or a Shamanic Mender.

Engineers are an erratic bunch that mostly stay within the walls of Obsidian. Sometimes they have a bit of bloodlust and decide to turn their inventions into—mostly stable—combat mechs. The Engineers usually offer their services to the Hunter’s Guild for handsome rewards that they use to then fund their next crazy contraption. Engineers may not have the brawn of a warrior, but they more than make up for it with their metal mechs. Once an Engineer learns the basics of their mech, they move on to their next pursuit, which is usually a Bruiser or an Inventor upgrade of their mech.
